Senior Software Engineer
Role Summary
Hands-on software engineer on the Infrastructure Solutions Software team within CE-SW, contributing to Arm's Neoverse cloud and data-center platforms. Work spans pre-silicon development through silicon bring-up and production readiness.
Develop and integrate SoC, firmware and system software across hardware and software boundaries to deliver production-ready infrastructure solutions.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 7+ years of relevant embedded or infrastructure SoC/system software experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on design, implementation and debugging of low-level system software across pre-silicon and silicon environments.
- Design, develop and debug SoC, firmware and system software for pre-silicon and silicon platforms.
- Translate requirements and architecture specifications into robust software implementations.
- Investigate and resolve complex hardware-software interaction issues and root causes.
- Maintain code quality and engineering practices; contribute to software design reviews.
- Collaborate with hardware, software and architecture teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role.
- Experience developing system software in embedded or infrastructure SoC environments.
- Practical knowledge of low-level systems: bootloaders, device drivers, OS fundamentals (preferably Linux), and computer architecture.
- Strong C (or similar) programming skills, including debugging and performance optimisation.
- Proven ability to investigate and solve problems across hardware and software boundaries.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work across engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), UEFI EDK II or KVM.
- Familiarity with server-class SoC features: RAS, power management, PCIe, CXL, memory subsystems and virtualization.
- Experience with BMC software and server manageability (Yocto, Redfish).
