Senior Software Engineer
Role Summary
Join the QuestaSim R&D team at Siemens EDA to design and implement algorithms and software for high-performance simulation tools. Work with senior engineers to define and deliver complex technical solutions that advance electronic design automation.
Based in Austin, TX (hybrid). The role involves owning strategic initiatives from conception through delivery and improving existing codebases and engines.
Experience Level
Senior — 15–25 years of professional software engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and implement algorithms and large-scale software systems for simulation tools.
- Define and scope complex, open-ended technical problems and lead their resolution.
- Design, develop, and enhance production-quality components, engines, and optimizations.
- Investigate and solve difficult performance, correctness, and scalability issues.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, mentor peers, and contribute to technical direction.
- Drive features from concept through design, implementation, test, and delivery.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and constraints:
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, data structures, and algorithms.
- Deep expertise in compiler concepts and optimizations.
- Proven experience working on UNIX/Linux platforms.
- Experience architecting and delivering large-scale, production-quality systems.
- Excellent analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
- Position is subject to U.S. export control (ITAR/EAR); employment contingent on U.S. Person status or obtaining an export license.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience in EDA/simulation tools or related domains.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
