Role Summary

Develop and maintain a C#/.NET desktop application used for high-volume optical transceiver testing and manufacturing. The role includes hardware integration, embedding and interfacing with Python test code, and building reliable, concurrent systems that run on production manufacturing lines.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and implement a C#/.NET GUI desktop application (MVVM) for instrumented test execution and manufacturing workflows.
• Write and maintain drivers and control code for laboratory and production instruments; manage resource locking and parallel test execution.
• Integrate Python test scripts and libraries into the .NET application and maintain cross-language interfaces.
• Ensure thread safety and correct concurrent behavior across processes and threads; prevent race conditions.
• Model and store test results at scale using document databases and design data access patterns for high throughput.
• Implement CI/CD, automated deployment to remote Windows machines, and versioning/artifact strategies.
• Debug and diagnose issues remotely using logs, traces, and telemetry when direct debugger access is not available.
• Design for testability, maintainability, and clean architecture suitable for factory/manufacturing environments.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• 5+ years C#/.NET development with GUI experience (WPF or similar), MVVM, async/await, and class library design.
• Experience with .NET 8 or later.
• Strong concurrent programming skills: designing thread-safe systems and reasoning about multi-threaded/multi-process execution.
• 3+ years Python (OOP, pytest, abstraction-driven design) and experience integrating Python with other runtimes.
• Practical experience with document databases (MongoDB or similar) for modeling and querying test results at scale.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions), artifact pipelines, and automated deployments to remote Windows machines.
• Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for automation, remote management, and deployment.
• Analytical debugging skills; ability to diagnose complex, multi-component failures from logs/traces/telemetry.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with test and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters) and instrument protocols (SCPI, VISA, GPIB).
• Unit testing frameworks (xUnit, MSTest) and strong testing culture.
• Knowledge of optical communications, photonics, or transceiver technology.
• Experience with Python.net or other native embedding of Python in .NET.
• Familiarity with factory/manufacturing software or MES integration.
