Job Title

Senior Software Development Engineer (C++, FPGA/EDA)

Role Summary

Develop and maintain software infrastructure for Lattice's FPGA design tools. The role focuses on implementing features for current and next-generation FPGA products and ensuring tool quality, performance, and usability.

Work within an FPGA/EDA engineering team to deliver production-grade software used by customers and internal product teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 6+ years of relevant software development experience in engineering application domains; experience in FPGA/ASIC EDA preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and deliver software infrastructure for FPGA design tools across product families.
  • Develop new capabilities for next-generation FPGA products.
  • Maintain and enhance existing FPGA design tool codebases.
  • Produce and review functional specifications and unit test plans; participate in specification and planning processes.
  • Improve development methodologies, tooling, and engineering processes.
  • Drive projects, lead technical discussions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • 6+ years of large-scale software development for engineering applications (FPGA/ASIC EDA domains preferred).
  • Proficient in C++; modern C++ experience is a plus.
  • Strong object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and graph theory skills.
  • Experience developing and debugging on both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Independent problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to lead technical work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to collaborate across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with shell, TCL, or Python scripting.
  • Familiarity with commercial FPGA software tools, FPGA design flow, or FPGA logic design.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
