Role Summary

Join a research & development team in Santa Clara building AI-driven software for analog and custom IC design automation. The role focuses on algorithms, AI, optimization, and software engineering to deliver production tools used by semiconductor customers.

Experience Level

Senior — experienced engineer with a track record of delivering commercial software and leading technical efforts.

Responsibilities

You will design, implement, and deliver production-quality software and features for analog/custom IC layout and physical implementation.

• Design and develop software for analog IC layout automation, placement, routing, and optimization.
• Apply AI and machine learning techniques to production design automation problems.
• Drive features from concept through customer deployment and production release.
• Collaborate with engineers, domain experts, and customers to define and deliver solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers; influence product direction.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience for successful candidates; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have:

• Significant experience developing commercial software products and shipping major capabilities to market.
• Strong C++ software development skills and solid object-oriented design.
• Experience applying AI, machine learning, generative or agentic AI techniques in production software.
• Strong background in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Linux development, testing, debugging, profiling, and source control.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with customers.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

• Experience with semiconductor EDA, analog/custom IC workflows, placement, routing, or layout automation.
• Familiarity with OpenAccess-based environments and commercial platforms such as Cadence Virtuoso.
• Background in numerical optimization, graph algorithms, or computational geometry.
• Experience in direct customer engagement and technical leadership roles.
• Python or TCL scripting experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (BS/MS/PhD). Related technical degrees or equivalent practical experience are acceptable.
