Senior Software Architect - RISC-V Embedded Systems

Role Summary

Lead design of the end-to-end software foundation for a 64-bit RISC-V multi-processor SoC (PIC64 family) targeting Aerospace, Defense, Automotive and industrial markets. Work with cross-functional teams to define architecture, verification evidence, and requirements traceability for high-reliability embedded platforms.

Interface with engineering, marketing, and customers to influence product roadmap and ensure the platform meets performance, reliability, and security expectations.

Responsibilities

The architect will define software architecture, establish standards, and oversee delivery of implementations and verification evidence.

  • Define end-to-end software architecture for a new RISC-V SoC to meet real-time, performance, and security requirements.
  • Establish coding standards, architectural guidelines, requirements traceability, and governance processes.
  • Lead architecture and technical review forums; provide mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Oversee software design, implementation, verification evidence, and lifecycle records (Jira/lifecycle tools).
  • Represent the architecture in customer discussions and partner with marketing and applications teams.
  • Coordinate cross-team engineering activities to ensure objective evidence meets customer expectations.
  • Travel up to 25% as required.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and core technical skills.

  • Extensive experience as a software architect for high-reliability embedded systems, including platform design from concept.
  • Experience in Avionics or Automotive development with strong knowledge of requirements traceability and evidence-based delivery.
  • Technical expertise in RTOS, multi-processor architectures, and low-level programming in C/C++ and Python.
  • Proven leadership: ability to mentor engineers and communicate complex technical concepts to customers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with DO-178C/ED-12C or ISO 26262/ASPICE.
  • Hands-on experience with RISC-V architectures and embedded Linux in mixed-workload systems.
  • Experience with hardware/software co-design and systems engineering workflows.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design and documentation.
