Develop real-time software for ion beam generation and control to maintain beam uniformity and angles for semiconductor manufacturing tools. Work on software features, fixes, field issue resolution, and verification on both hardware and simulators within a cross-functional product team.
Position is based in Beverly, MA and may require domestic and international customer site visits.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects approximately 8–10 years of relevant experience in software development for complex electro-mechanical or semiconductor equipment.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and supporting real-time control applications.
- Design and implement production-quality real-time machine control applications in C/C++.
- Develop major and minor enhancements and resolve defects in control software.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, process engineers, scientists, and product teams to define requirements and designs.
- Investigate and resolve field-reported issues with Product Support.
- Work with Software Quality to test on implanter hardware and product simulators.
- Support customer site deployments and troubleshoot at customer locations as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; desirable items are listed under "Nice-to-have." Education details are provided separately below.
- Must-have: Strong C/C++ programming and embedded systems development experience.
- Experience developing controls for complex electro-mechanical hardware with distributed I/O and multi-tier/multi-platform control architectures.
- Experience implementing real-time multi-tasked control using an RTOS (e.g., Wind River VxWorks).
- Experience with real-time machine control, instrumentation device interfaces (sensors, actuators, motors, encoders) and high-speed data acquisition and transfer.
- Solid mathematical skills and practical application of control theory, single- and multivariate closed-loop control, and signal processing methods (peak detection, noise filtering, loop compensation).
- Understanding of HW/SW partitioning for system performance and reliability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams; ability to work in a clean room environment.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with ion beam generation/control systems, plasma physics, RF/microwave generators, MKS Macro node/Modbus controllers, Ethernet TCP/IP and RS-232 interfaces.
Education Requirements
