Job Title

Senior SoC / RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of Arm's Front End design team within Solutions Engineering, responsible for specification, RTL design and verification of SoC IPs and compute subsystems across market segments (mobile, server, IoT, automotive, etc.).

Deliver micro-architecture specifications, implement RTL, run design checks and collaborate with verification and implementation teams to achieve integrated, optimized subsystem deliveries.

Experience Level

Senior. The title indicates a senior-level engineering role (typically 7+ years of relevant industry experience).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on RTL design and subsystem integration; key responsibilities include:

  • Write micro-architecture specifications for IPs and subsystems.
  • Develop RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog) and perform design checks.
  • Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug issues.
  • Work with implementation teams to optimise designs for synthesis and physical implementation.
  • Plan and track work, report status to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog or Verilog HDL for RTL design.
  • Strong understanding of RTL design for complex SoC development.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and design methodologies.
  • Experience with static design checks, synthesis, and clock/power domain crossing issues.
  • Practical knowledge of computer architecture and processor-based system designs.
  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl or Unix shell) and clear technical writing/communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to Arm-based designs, Arm system architectures and AMBA protocols.
  • Experience in C/C++ or assembly language programming.
  • Functional safety (ISO 26262), RAS or power-aware RTL design methodologies (UPF/CFP, gating, retention, DVFS).
