Job Title

Senior SoC Platform Software Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop SoC platform software for Qualcomm IE‑IOT SoC platforms targeting Linux and RTOS environments. Work spans drivers, middleware, boot/bring‑up and application layers to enable low‑power, high‑performance, and real‑time edge computing applications.

Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and cross‑functional teams to integrate, validate, debug, and optimize platform software for production systems.

Experience Level

Senior. The role title indicates senior level engineering responsibilities. Preferred experience includes system integration and platform bring‑up (roughly 2+ years in those areas is desirable); see Education Requirements for the formal minimums tied to academic credentials.

Responsibilities

Deliver and validate SoC platform software and lead system integration activities.

  • Design, implement, and optimize platform software components (drivers, middleware, application modules) for Linux and RTOS targets.
  • Perform system bring‑up from bootloader through kernel and application layers; coordinate initialization across bootloader, kernel, firmware, and RTOS.
  • Integrate and validate software on target hardware; support board bring‑up and feature enablement.
  • Debug system issues across hardware/firmware/OS boundaries, analyze logs, crash dumps and runtime traces, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Conduct design and code reviews; perform performance profiling and memory‑footprint analysis to meet power, performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Prepare technical documentation, present design reviews and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Resolve architecture and integration issues and support platform bring‑up on new silicon.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required for successful contribution. Education requirements are summarized separately below.

  • Must-have: Demonstrated software development experience in C/C++ and/or Python; strong ability to debug at system level across HW/FW/OS.
  • Must-have: Experience integrating Linux BSP and RTOS firmware on ARM‑based SoCs and performing end‑to‑end system bring‑up.
  • Must-have: Experience with board bring‑up, feature enablement, validation, and triage of silicon or integration issues.
  • Must-have: Experience with performance profiling, crash analysis, and use/enhancement of logging and diagnostic frameworks.
  • Must-have: Ability to read hardware specifications and translate them into integration and debug activities; strong cross‑team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with JTAG, ETM, ftrace, kgdb, crash/core‑dump analysis and other low‑level debug tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Deep knowledge of ARM architecture, heterogeneous/multi‑core systems, and system‑level optimization techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience working with globally distributed teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field are referenced in the posting. The position lists degree‑linked minimum experience: Bachelor's +2 years relevant experience, Master’s +1 year relevant experience, or PhD (no specific year requirement listed). Equivalent practical experience is implied by the degree‑or‑experience options in the minimum qualifications.
