Job Title

Senior SOC Physical Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on SoC physical design flows for high-speed DDR, graphics, and related subsystems to meet power, performance and tapeout schedules. The role covers floorplanning, clock-tree synthesis, place-and-route, PDN design, timing closure, and physical verification at chip and block levels.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive signoff closure and participate as a technical contributor in design reviews and project meetings.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Years of experience not specified in the source.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Perform floorplanning, clock tree synthesis (CTS), place-and-route, and power distribution network (PDN) design for SoC projects.
  • Drive timing analysis and timing closure across chip and block levels toward tapeout.
  • Execute physical verification checks (LVS, DRC) and design-for-manufacturing/yield checks at chip and block levels.
  • Optimize designs for target power utilization and overall power-performance tradeoffs.
  • Provide schedules, support cross-functional engineering teams, and help drive projects to signoff.
  • Contribute to design reviews and project meetings with technical recommendations and status.

Requirements

Key qualifications and skills expected for successful candidates.

  • Must-have: Significant experience with SoC physical design flows including floorplanning, CTS, place-and-route, PDN, and timing closure.
  • Proven experience with physical verification flows and checks such as LVS, DRC and design-for-manufacturing / design-for-yield methodologies.
  • Experience optimizing designs for power and performance, especially for high-speed DDR and graphics subsystems.
  • Ability to produce and maintain schedules and collaborate across RTL, validation, CAD and product teams to achieve tapeout signoff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective participation in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SOC algorithm design and modeling, micro-architecture considerations, or physical design methodology development.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is accepted as stated in the source.
