Job Title
Senior SOC Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Develop high-performance software models of Arm-based CPUs, system IP, and complete reference platforms using C++ and SystemC. Models will enable early firmware, OS, and application development, architecture exploration, and system-level validation prior to silicon availability.
Work within the Fast Models team, collaborating with hardware architects, RTL designers, and global software teams to ensure accurate behavioral modelling and scalable virtual platforms.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 4+ years of relevant industry experience in software development or SoC/IP modelling.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance functional models of SoC and system IP using C++ and SystemC.
- Construct virtual platforms representing Arm reference platforms to enable early software development and bring-up.
- Collaborate with hardware architects and RTL designers to interpret specifications and ensure accurate behavioral models.
- Integrate multiple IP models to build scalable system-level simulations and full-system simulators.
- Diagnose system-level issues and support software bring-up on virtual platforms.
- Optimize model performance and participate in debugging and verification activities.
- Contribute to development roadmaps and coordinate with project managers and distributed engineering teams.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Minimum 4+ years of proven experience in relevant roles.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience building large-scale software systems.
- Experience in SoC or IP modelling using C++, SystemC, or TLM.
- Solid understanding of computer architecture, microarchitecture, and SoC design concepts.
- Experience with debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and Gerrit.
- Understanding of RISC-based architectures and CPU instruction sets.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in distributed global teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Programmer's View (PV) modelling and SystemC TLM-2.0 methodologies.
- Knowledge of Arm architecture or Arm system IP (CPU, interconnects, GIC, SMMU).
- Experience building SoC virtual platforms or full-system simulators.
- Background in low-level software, firmware, bare-metal programming, or device drivers.
- Experience contributing to large-scale multi-site software projects.
Education Requirements
