Senior Silicon Validation Methodology Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior Silicon Validation Methodology Engineer
Role Summary
Member of NVIDIA's Silicon Co-Design Group responsible for defining and owning clocking and high-speed I/O (HSIO) functional validation methodology across GPU/SOC/CPU products. The role spans specification, silicon bring-up, and integration testing to ensure functional correctness, signal/power integrity, and system stability.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests 8+ years of hands-on silicon validation methodology experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will establish and execute validation methodology for clocking and HSIO, coordinate across teams, and deliver tools and metrics to improve validation efficiency and coverage.
- Own definition and first-use of clocking and HSIO functional validation methodology from specification through silicon bring-up, covering functional, protocol, SI/PI, clocking behavior, system stability, integration, and corner cases.
- Define test scope, coverage bounds, trade-offs (timing vs. power, SI vs. performance), pass/fail criteria, bring-up plans, and signoff guidance.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with architecture, design, board, firmware, and software teams to align validation requirements and resolve trade-offs.
- Create and standardize automated tools, scripts, and metrics to increase validation efficiency and coverage.
- Debug HSIO and clocking issues and convert findings into reusable tests and corrective approaches to raise product quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 8+ years hands-on silicon validation methodology experience with deep knowledge of HSIO and clocking architecture, design, and validation (including SerDes, protocol, functional and electrical validation, SI/PI, and power-aware trade-offs) in at least one of PCIe, CXL, USB, UFS, MGBE, or chip-to-chip/die-to-die interconnects.
- Proven ability to set validation strategy under trade-offs and convert ambiguous specifications into executable tests and measurable coverage.
- Expert debug skills for silicon HSIO and clocking failures and ability to produce reusable validation and corrective actions.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills across design, board, firmware, and software teams, with experience supporting product launches in low-power domains.
- Experience applying AI tools to accelerate analysis, exploration, and documentation while preserving technical rigor and original judgment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience creating methodologies that were adopted by industry practices or standards.
- Contributions to relevant open-source tools or technical publications.
- Familiarity with the latest trends in high-speed communication protocols and their validation implications.
Education Requirements
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
