Job Title
Senior Silicon Reliability Engineer
Role Summary
Drive silicon reliability for advanced semiconductor products by defining process reliability requirements, qualifying test vehicles with foundries, and providing reliability guidance to design and product teams. The role partners with wafer foundries, design, advanced technology, and operations to ensure robust product performance across technology nodes.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 8+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing reliability requirements, planning and executing stress tests, and providing actionable reliability guidance to product teams.
- Define process reliability requirements for new technology nodes with foundries and internal teams.
- Drive test vehicle qualifications and process-reliability improvements prior to product tape-out.
- Plan and oversee wafer-level stress tests and collaborate with foundries on extrinsic failure mechanism investigations.
- Perform wearout reliability assessments and develop reliability models and methodologies.
- Provide Vmax, aging guardband, and other reliability guidelines to design and product teams.
- Assess excursion materials from foundries and evaluate reliability risk for disposition.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Deep knowledge of semiconductor process technologies, reliability physics, and acceleration models.
- Familiarity with wearout failure mechanisms: TDDB, BTI, HCI, EM, SM, and related test structures and industry standards (JEDEC, AEC).
- Proficient in reliability statistics and failure-rate calculations across early life, useful life, and wearout periods.
- Knowledge of process defects, failure analysis, and defect-screening methodologies.
- Understanding of reliability degradation in logic and memory circuits.
- Hands-on reliability data analysis experience; familiarity with statistical tools such as JMP.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- 8+ years of overall experience in semiconductor reliability.
Education Requirements
PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related major β or equivalent practical experience.
