Job Title

Senior Silicon Product Definition Engineer

Role Summary

Work in NVIDIA's Silicon Co-Design Group (SCG) to convert silicon and system data into product decisions that optimize performance, power, yield, and quality. Drive product configurations and optimizations from early bring-up through production by aligning silicon behavior, platform requirements, manufacturing realities, and market needs.

Use data, statistical models, automation, and AI-assisted tools to accelerate analysis and root-cause resolution.

Experience Level

Senior; typically requires 5+ years of experience in silicon product definition, post-silicon characterization, product engineering, or performance and power analysis.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include analysis, cross-functional leadership, and delivering productized fixes.

  • Own product-definition analysis across performance, power, yield, and quality using large silicon datasets.
  • Identify frequency, power, and thermal limiting constraints and translate findings into silicon, firmware, BIOS, driver, and platform changes.
  • Build statistical models, automation, and visualization workflows to improve decision quality.
  • Partner with Tools and Methodology teams to shift data modeling and test procedures left into future programs.
  • Lead multi-functional root-cause closure with architecture, design, validation, software/firmware, applications engineering, manufacturing, and operations from bring-up through production.
  • Evaluate performance-per-watt, PVT behavior, yield, and quality trade-offs and drive implementation and confirmation of fixes.
  • Translate complex silicon and system signals into concise, decision-ready options for executive leadership.
  • Own and deliver BIOS-level VF settings across thermal, power, and frequency domains and drive cross-functional fixes to close gaps.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 5+ years in silicon product definition, post-silicon characterization, product engineering, or performance/power analysis for GPU, CPU, SoC, or similar complex silicon.
  • Hands-on silicon bring-up experience and performance-per-watt analysis across process, voltage, and temperature conditions.
  • Strong programming and data-analysis skills with Python and one or more of Perl, JMP, SQL, or equivalent; practical knowledge of statistics and large-dataset manipulation.
  • Strong technical foundation in digital design, circuit analysis, computer architecture, critical-path analysis, process technology, and device/transistor physics.
  • Working knowledge of firmware, BIOS, drivers, OS behavior, and software applications that influence silicon performance and power.
  • Proven ability to drive ambiguous technical issues to root-cause closure across globally distributed, multi-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to present concise, decision-ready options to executives.

Nice-to-have:

  • Track record of shipping product configurations that improved performance, power efficiency, yield, quality, or time-to-market.
  • Experience with advanced process nodes and high-complexity GPU, CPU, AI accelerator, automotive, or datacenter products.
  • Experience building reusable product-definition methodologies, statistical models, or automation adopted across multiple programs.
  • Proficiency with AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate analysis and debugging with appropriate guardrails.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
