Senior Silicon Power, Thermal Validation and Methodology Engineer
Role Summary
Lead productization of power and thermal features across ASIC/SoC programs, translating architecture and silicon behavior into executable characterization, validation, and bring-up methodology. Work on the Silicon Design for Productization team within the Silicon Co-Design Group, coordinating across architecture, firmware, validation, and platform teams.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 8+ years of experience in post-silicon bring-up and validation of power and thermal features on complex ASIC or SoC programs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on methodology, validation, and cross-functional technical leadership for power and thermal productization.
- Lead multi-functional teams to define and execute power and thermal productization strategy.
- Design methodology and silicon test plans for controller architectures, including characterization processes, debug tooling, firmware/fuse settings, and lab requirements.
- Investigate and resolve silicon issues with structured hypotheses, measurement plans, and root-cause analysis.
- Create and maintain the Power & Thermal playbook; develop new mitigations and reusable methods when existing processes do not apply.
- Develop AI-enabled workflows to automate data analysis, metric extraction, trend detection, and report generation to accelerate bring-up and validation.
- Act as a technical owner for cross-functional tradeoffs and decisions related to feature bring-up, performance, reliability, and schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven background in silicon power/thermal validation and methodology.
Must-have:
- 8+ years of post-silicon bring-up and validation experience on sophisticated ASIC or SoC programs.
- Deep end-to-end understanding of silicon behavior across architecture, firmware, validation, and platform interactions in power and thermal domains.
- Experience creating or improving characterization documentation, debug tools, dashboards, or other technical artifacts.
- Proven ability to make sound tradeoff decisions across power, thermal, performance, firmware, design, validation, and schedule constraints.
- Experience building or applying AI-enabled workflows for silicon characterization or validation, with measurable impact and appropriate validation guardrails.
Nice-to-have:
- History of building power and thermal methodology, debug frameworks, validation standards, or characterization infrastructure.
- Experience with silicon power measurement, energy-efficiency tuning, characterization infrastructure, or analytics that improved bring-up or signoff workflows.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and communicating risks and recommendations to leadership.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
