Senior Silicon Photonics Integration Engineer (2026 New College Graduate)

Role Summary

Support 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing and technology development at GlobalFoundries Fab 8 in Malta, NY. The role owns process integration for silicon photonics technology, drives product ramp from development to mature production, and focuses on improving yield, electrical performance, and defectivity.

Work with cross-functional teams to define experiments, analyze data, qualify process flows, and optimize quality, cost, and delivery.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Targeted to graduating Master's or PhD candidates; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Own and drive the 45 nm silicon photonics technology product ramp from development through mature production.
  • Maintain ownership of a technology module: prioritize projects, delegate tasks, define experiments, and manage hardware disposition.
  • Develop and qualify silicon photonics process flows and integrations to meet product performance, reliability, and defectivity targets.
  • Monitor line and product performance through data analysis; identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve yield, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and support customer engagement.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • English fluency (written and verbal).

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (projects, competitions, work).
  • Project management and execution skills; ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Exposure to silicon photonics and a foundation in semiconductor processing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including knowledge of SPC, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Education Requirements

Graduating with a Master’s or PhD in Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related engineering/physical science discipline. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and proven good academic standing.
