Senior Silicon Circuit Co-Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work in the Silicon Co-Design Group to close the gap between design intent and silicon reality for safety, security, reliability, and performance-enhancement circuits. You will drive post-silicon bring-up, correlation between models and measurements, and produce analysis that informs architecture, circuit design, and product decisions.

The role combines hands-on lab work, data-driven analysis, tool and infrastructure development, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Senior - typically requires 8+ years of hands-on silicon bring-up, characterization, or post-silicon validation on real hardware.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include ownership of co-design, bring-up, validation, and analysis of circuits that affect product safety, security, reliability, and performance.

  • Own co-design, first-power-on bring-up, and post-silicon validation of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits across PVT corners through production sign-off.
  • Develop and maintain methodologies to correlate measured behavior with pre-silicon predictions and quantify model divergence.
  • Trace failures to root causes (circuit marginality, power integrity, process corners, system coupling) and drive resolution to confirmation.
  • Design and deploy AI-assisted agents and automated test orchestration to expand coverage and reduce cycle time while managing risks.
  • Build and own automation, analysis infrastructure, and data pipelines to scale characterization across products.
  • Provide analysis that guides binning strategy, guard-banding, reliability sign-off, and future design improvements.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and interns, improving team technical capability.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience for performing the role effectively.

  • (Must-have) 8+ years of hands-on silicon bring-up, frequency and power characterization, or post-silicon validation on real hardware.
  • (Must-have) Strong circuit fundamentals across analog, digital, and mixed-signal domains with practical intuition for what measurements imply.
  • (Must-have) Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQs, spectrum analyzers, silicon debug tools, and tester-to-system correlation.
  • (Must-have) Experience with product binning, PVT analysis, guard-banding, optimization trade-offs, and statistical analysis of distributions.
  • (Must-have) Exposure to power integrity, dI/dt and PDN analysis, critical path interactions, transistor physics, and reliability/aging mechanisms.
  • (Must-have) Scripting and tooling skills (Python, C/C++, or equivalent) to build characterization infrastructure and automation.
  • (Nice-to-have) Prior development or deployment of AI-driven flows for circuit analysis or failure triage and established guardrails for their use.
  • (Nice-to-have) Experience on datacenter-scale or high-performance silicon and prior success creating adopted co-design/correlation methodologies.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical lab experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in the lab in lieu of degree.
