Job Title

Senior Signal and Power Integrity Engineer - Hardware

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for signal and power integrity (SI/PI) across package, PCB and system-level designs. Work with cross-functional teams to model, simulate, measure, and optimize high-speed interfaces and interconnects for NVIDIA products.

Experience Level

Senior-level engineer. The posting expects approximately 6+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Develop SI solutions for complex system design problems and provide technical guidance to design teams.
  • Perform 3D EM modeling and optimization of vias, connectors, sockets, breakouts and other system components.
  • Run system-level SI simulations for high-speed interfaces (e.g., NVLink, USB4, PCIe5, GDDR6, LPDDR5X).
  • Correlate and improve SI models using lab measurements and updated modeling methodologies.
  • Create substrate and board layout SI guidelines; perform post-layout SI extraction and review.
  • Automate simulations and workflows; gather, analyze, and visualize data using tools such as JMP or MATLAB.
  • Collaborate across package, PCB, ASIC and mechanical teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and performance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Education details are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Demonstrated SI experience on one or more high-speed standards (PCIe, USB, SATA, HDMI, HBM, DDR5, GDDR6, LPDDR5X, etc.).
  • Strong background in applied electromagnetics, transmission line theory, and signal processing applied to SI problems.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D EM tools (for example ANSYS HFSS/Q3D), 2.5D tools (ANSYS SIWAVE or similar), and 2D field solvers.
  • Familiarity with system-level timing and loss budgets that include silicon, package and board impairments.
  • Practical lab experience with measurement equipment such as VNA, TDR, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with simulation automation, data analysis and visualization (e.g., MATLAB, JMP) and common SI/EDA tools (ADS, Ansys Designer, Cadence Allegro).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with 200Gbps interconnects, backplane/midplane architectures, and connector/cable characterization.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, plating, molding) and material characterization (e.g., LCP) for electrical modeling.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis of connector and cable performance and evaluate connector product specifications.
  • Familiarity with circuit design, board/package technology and link architecture/timing budget methodologies.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (the posting specifies BS/MS-Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with 6+ years of industry experience).
