Job Title

Senior SerDes High-Speed IP ATE Test Development & Characterization Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and validate ATE test solutions for high-speed SerDes IP used in SoCs, supporting design validation, characterization, NPI and volume production. Collaborate with design, system, bench, vector and hardware teams to bring up tests, debug silicon issues and qualify production test flows.

Work primarily on Advantest 93000 or similar ATE platforms for interfaces such as PCIe, UFS, USB2/3/4, DSI, CSI and proprietary high-speed IP.

Experience Level

Senior level. Minimum experience guidance per minimum qualifications: Bachelor's + 2+ years hardware engineering experience, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include development, validation and production support for high-speed ATE tests:

  • Design, implement and validate ATE test cases for SerDes PHYs and high-speed IP on Advantest 93000 or similar platforms.
  • Characterize SerDes performance and execute design validation tests for PCIe, UFS, USB, DSI, CSI and proprietary interfaces.
  • Bring up test vectors, debug silicon failures and iterate with design, bench and vector teams.
  • Support NPI and volume production: reduce test time, diagnose yield issues, and qualify production tests.
  • Drive failure analysis to completion and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop test automation, scripting and maintain documentation for test flows and processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes:

  • Hands-on experience with ATE test development and production testing for high-speed interfaces.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic fundamentals, digital, analog, mixed-signal and VLSI concepts.
  • Understanding of SerDes fundamentals (CTLE, CDR) and signal integrity concepts.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting (C/C++, Java, Perl or similar) for test development and automation.
  • Experience debugging silicon, performing test characterization and collaborating across engineering teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and documentation skills; able to work independently and drive technical issues to resolution.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and test optimization is desirable.
  • Experience with Advantest 93000 or other ATE platforms is preferred.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum qualifications allow equivalency: Bachelor's + 2+ years hardware engineering experience, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD in a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
