Job Title
Senior RTL Design Engineer – PCIe Subsystems
Role Summary
Join the High-Speed I/O Technology Team (HSIO-TT) within Arm Solutions Engineering to design tape-out-ready PCIe subsystems for infrastructure SoCs. The team develops integrated subsystem solutions combining Arm IP and third-party IP to meet performance and scalability targets for next-generation platforms.
Experience Level
Senior level. (Posting does not specify a years-of-experience range.)
Responsibilities
Contribute to front-end subsystem development from specification through RTL and tape-out support.
- Develop micro-architectures from high-level specifications and implement RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog).
- Code, integrate, and verify a range of IPs including analog/mixed-signal IP, PHYs, PLLs, sensors and other subsystem components.
- Perform design quality checks and sign-off activities (Lint, CDC, RDC and related checks).
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans, debug issues and achieve functional coverage.
- Work with implementation teams on timing constraints, SDCs, design partitions, and support ECOs through tape-out.
- Plan, track and report progress to ensure timely delivery of high-quality designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog or Verilog for RTL design.
- Solid RTL design techniques for complex SoC development and processor-based systems.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and methodologies.
- Experience with static design checks, power and clock domain crossing, synthesis, timing constraints and SDCs.
- Ability to write specifications and documentation for complex designs; strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and scripting workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Codex) is expected.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Arm-based SoC designs, Arm system architectures and AMBA protocols.
- Knowledge of PCIe and CXL protocols.
- Experience with low-power RTL methodologies (UPF/CPF, power/clock gating, state retention, DVFS).
- Experience setting up design flows and methodologies for large-scale SoC/subsystem development.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
