Job Title
Senior RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior RTL Design Engineer will design and implement RTL for Mythic's next-generation AI processors, focusing on high-performance, low-power logic and microarchitecture. The role sits on the RTL design team and works closely with architecture, analog IP, compiler, verification, emulation, and physical design groups.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years of industry experience in RTL design and microarchitecture.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include translating microarchitecture into robust RTL, optimizing for performance/power/area, and integrating with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement RTL for datapaths, controllers, memory subsystems, interconnects, and related modules.
- Develop and refine microarchitecture for scheduling subsystems, high-performance interconnect fabrics, and DMA engines.
- Collaborate with architects, analog IP teams, verification, emulation, and post-silicon teams to ensure correct system integration.
- Drive timing closure by working with synthesis and physical design teams and addressing timing/physical constraints.
- Participate in design reviews and improve RTL coding practices, methodologies, and verification strategies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years of industry experience in RTL design, microarchitecture, or architecture development.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and adherence to industry-standard RTL coding guidelines.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals: pipelines, caches, coherence, and memory hierarchies.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of: scheduling fabrics, high-performance interconnects, DMA engines, memory controllers, or datapath/control logic.
- Familiarity with timing constraints, physical design considerations, and EDA flows.
- Experience with simulation, synthesis, linting, and static timing analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
-
Nice-to-have: scripting for automation (Python), emulation/FPGA prototyping experience, NoC architectures, low-power techniques, advanced-node timing closure, performance modeling, or familiarity with AI/DSP architectures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field — or equivalent practical industry experience.
