Senior RTL Design Engineer - DDR/LPDDR Memory Controller

Role Summary

Join AMD's Memory Controller Design team to develop RTL for DDR/LPDDR memory controller IP. The role focuses on implementing microarchitecture features, optimizing power/performance/area, and collaborating with architects, verification, and EDA flow teams to deliver high-quality IP.

Locations include Boxborough, MA; Austin, TX; and Vancouver, BC. This role is listed as hybrid and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Define and implement IP microarchitecture features in collaboration with architects.
  • Develop and maintain RTL for memory controller IP.
  • Analyze and optimize designs for power, performance, and area.
  • Participate in design specification reviews and code reviews.
  • Run lint, CDC, and timing analysis to support robust implementation.
  • Work with verification engineers to validate, debug, and iterate IP throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and attributes:

  • Must-have: Practical experience with digital logic design and RTL coding (Verilog and/or SystemVerilog).
  • Must-have: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with DDR or LPDDR memory systems and memory controller design.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with EDA tools and design flows (simulation, lint, synthesis) and digital logic verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
