Job Title
Senior RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver RTL micro-architecture and implementation for digital control blocks of high-speed mixed-signal SerDes PHY IP. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to integrate digital logic with analog circuits, verification, and architecture teams and support silicon bring-up and validation.
Experience Level
Senior-level — 7+ years of ASIC/IP RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on RTL development, mixed-signal integration, front-end design closure, and post-silicon support.
- Own micro-architecture and implement RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog) for PHY digital control blocks (PCS, calibration engines, power-management states, clock/reset distribution).
- Define and verify digital–analog interface boundaries and implement calibration algorithms (e.g., RX equalization, TX driver impedance, PLL/DLL tracking).
- Ensure protocol and IP compliance; integrate with Data Link layer via standard interfaces such as PIPE 5.x/6.x.
- Drive front-end implementation and design-closure activities: linting, CDC analysis, formal verification (LEC), STA and constraints generation.
- Collaborate with AMS simulation and DV teams to debug co-simulation issues and maximize functional coverage.
- Support post-silicon validation, bring-up, and root-cause analysis of silicon failures; tune firmware/hardware calibration parameters.
Requirements
Key must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of ASIC/IP RTL design experience focused on PHY/SerDes domains.
- Strong knowledge of high-speed SerDes architectures and the PIPE interface standard.
- Experience working across digital/analog boundaries, handling asynchronous signals, handshakes, and multiple power domains.
- Proficiency with front-end design and verification tools (examples: Synopsys SpyGlass, Cadence JasperGold, or similar).
- Solid understanding of multi-clock designs, low-power techniques (UPF, clock gating), synthesis, and static timing analysis (STA).
- Experience supporting post-silicon bring-up and debug is preferred.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, or a related discipline.
