Senior RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the design and implementation of advanced FPGA-based systems focusing on architecture, high-speed interfaces, RTL implementation, and validation. Work across architecture, verification, physical implementation, and hardware validation teams to deliver designs meeting power, performance, and area targets.
Contract position based in Folsom, CA.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of experience in architecture development and FPGA design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define system architecture and microarchitecture for complex FPGA designs.
- Develop prototypes and simulation models; define system-level requirements and specifications.
- Architect and implement multi-FPGA partitioning for scalable hardware systems.
- Design, implement, and debug high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, and DDR.
- Drive RTL development through microarchitecture, RTL, physical implementation, timing closure, simulation, and lab validation.
- Perform design trade-off analysis to optimize cost, size, power, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, verification, and hardware validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years in architecture development and FPGA/RTL design.
- Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog; strong HDL development, simulation, and analysis skills.
- Experience with static timing analysis and timing closure for high-performance FPGA designs.
- Experience with RoCEv2 (RDMA): RDMA READ/WRITE, Queue Pair management, and congestion control.
- Experience developing NVMe over Fabrics RTL or equivalent host-to-storage data-path logic.
- Experience tuning and integrating PCIe Gen4/5/6 and 100G/200G/400G Ethernet MAC/PCS.
- Experience with lab-based silicon validation and debug.
- Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative engineering teams.
- Role is a contractor position; not eligible for C2C or W2 referral candidates.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science required. Masters or PhD is preferred.
