Job Title

Senior RFIC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and transfer RF switches, LNAs and RFICs for front-end modules across GaAs, SOI, SiGe and CMOS processes. Work with product, module and test teams to specify devices, validate designs, and support production readiness.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Posting requests 6+ years of relevant switch/RF IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, characterization, and production support for RFICs and supporting laminates.

  • Define switch/LNA/RFIC specifications with marketing and module designers.
  • Design, layout and evaluate laminates and test fixtures to support device characterization.
  • Perform RF measurements, troubleshoot setups, and analyze small-signal and linearity behavior using VNA and spectrum analyzers.
  • Simulate and validate designs using circuit and EM tools; iterate designs to meet performance and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams (filters, module integration, modeling/tool vendors) to integrate RFICs into modules and improve design predictability.
  • Lead production readiness activities: device characterization, production test plan development, and yield optimization support.
  • Support and coordinate with remote engineering teams and guide product engineers during transfer to production.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Educational degrees are summarized under Education Requirements below.

  • 6+ years of switch and RF IC design experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Cadence and Agilent ADS for circuit simulation and layout flow.
  • Experience with HFSS and other EM tools (Momentum) for modeling and verification.
  • Practical experience designing and evaluating GaAs, Silicon, and SiGe switches, LNAs, or RFICs.
  • Experience designing laminates and test boards to support RFIC evaluation and characterization.
  • Advanced measurement skills with VNAs and spectrum analyzers and ability to troubleshoot measurement issues.
  • Experience with front-end module designs and integrating RFICs into modules.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and meet aggressive schedules; experience supporting remote teams.
  • Experience with production transfer, test-plan development, and yield optimization.

Education Requirements

Required: BSEE (focus on RF design). MSEE preferred. (Degrees in electrical engineering with RF emphasis are expected.)
