Senior RF Test Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for developing and optimizing RF test solutions for Semtech's AMW and SiP product lines through NPI and mass production. Works closely with RF design, product engineering, and operations to release products and improve test efficiency and yield.

Experience Level

Senior — 5+ years of RF test engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include test development, hardware design for test, data analysis, and cross-functional support during NPI and production.

• Lead RF test development from early samples to final production release for AMW and SiP product lines.
• Collaborate with RF design, product engineering, and operations to meet NPI milestones.
• Develop and optimize RF ATE programs and test hardware for production and characterization (e.g., Advantest V93K RFIM6/RFIM18 and equivalent platforms).
• Create ATE test plans from device datasheets and refine RF test methodologies.
• Design RF probe and final test schematics and participate in hardware reviews.
• Collect and analyze device performance across temperature to set test limits, perform GR&R, and correlate to system-level RF performance.
• Support RMA verification, failure analysis, corrective actions, yield improvement, and sustaining activities.
• Drive test time and cost reductions and document RF best practices; support capability development across the Asia Hub.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution; nice-to-have items listed separately.

• Must-have: 5+ years of RF test engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Proven experience developing RF test programs and test hardware for automated RF test equipment (e.g., Advantest V93K RFIM6/RFIM18 or equivalent).
• Ability to read and apply RF hardware schematics, datasheet parameters, and device specifications.
• Strong understanding of RF test methodology and RF fundamentals (S-parameters, RSSI, SNR, noise figure, EVM, ACLR) and mixed-signal testing.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation to improve yield.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and effective written/verbal communication in English.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with RF PCB design and RF hardware development tools.
• Programming skills for test automation (Python, C/C++ or similar).
• Experience working across multi-site teams in Asia (Malaysia, Taiwan).
• Knowledge of DFT/DFM, measurement uncertainty, 6-sigma, PAT/SBL/SYL, and RF correlation/GR&R methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
