Job Title

Senior RF Hardware/Test Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Provide RF hardware engineering and automated test development to validate and characterize cellular and RF products. Work with internal RF, software, applications, and product teams to develop measurement methods, automated test systems, and tools that accelerate product evaluation and integration.

This role is based in Greensboro, NC and includes customer-facing technical support and cross-team troubleshooting.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of relevant RF engineering, RF test, or hardware development experience (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing automated RF test systems, performing measurements, and providing engineering support to internal teams and customers.

  • Design, enhance, and maintain automated RF test systems and measurement tools.
  • Create desktop and web tools for RF data collection, analysis, visualization, reporting, and test automation.
  • Validate and analyze performance for LTE, 5G and related cellular technologies.
  • Use signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, power meters, and similar lab equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot hardware.
  • Analyze measurement data, identify trends, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend test methodology improvements.
  • Develop data-driven or AI-assisted utilities for automation, anomaly detection, and reporting.
  • Read and interpret datasheets, schematics, block diagrams, and RF front-end documentation to support debugging.
  • Support customers with integration, optimization, and troubleshooting of drivers and RF components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and participate in technical discussions with customers.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required; preferred qualifications are listed separately.

  • 5+ years of experience in RF engineering, RF test, hardware development, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment (signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, power meters, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of LTE and 5G technologies and ability to troubleshoot system-level RF issues.
  • Experience developing automated test solutions or engineering tools using languages such as .NET, C#, VB.NET, Python, C/C++ or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret datasheets, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for collaboration and customer support.
  • Work authorization: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the company.

Preferred:

  • Experience with WCDMA, CDMA, GSM or other legacy cellular technologies.
  • Familiarity with RF front-end architectures, interfaces, and product evaluation methods.
  • Experience with Git, Visual Studio, or similar development tools.
  • Exposure to AI/ML, advanced analytics, or LLM-enabled tools for test automation or RF data analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent education and experience.
