Job Title

Senior RF Application Engineer (Wi-Fi)

Role Summary

Customer-facing senior application engineer supporting integration and optimization of Broadcom Wi‑Fi chipsets across consumer and enterprise platforms. Works with OEMs/ODMs and internal chipset, firmware, software, validation, RF and systems teams to enable successful design-in and production support.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 10+ years of experience in wireless communications, application engineering, or field/system integration roles.

Responsibilities

Work directly with customers and cross-functional teams to enable Wi‑Fi chipset integration, characterize RF performance, and resolve complex system-level issues from design to production.

  • Act as primary technical interface for strategic customers integrating Broadcom Wi‑Fi chipsets.
  • Support design‑in activities from concept through production.
  • Debug complex hardware, firmware, driver, and system‑level Wi‑Fi issues.
  • Analyze customer logs, protocol traces, and RF measurements to identify root causes.
  • Collaborate with chipset design, firmware, software, validation, and RF teams to resolve issues.
  • Optimize throughput, latency, roaming, coexistence, and power consumption.
  • Perform RF performance characterization (EVM, spectral mask, ACLR, output power, receiver sensitivity, PER).
  • Assist with board bring‑up, software integration, driver configuration, and manufacturing support.
  • Create application notes, troubleshooting guides, and customer presentations; provide training.
  • Manage multiple customer priorities and drive cross‑functional issue resolution.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.

  • 10+ years experience in wireless communications, application engineering, systems engineering, or field application roles.
  • Strong expertise with Wi‑Fi standards including 802.11ac, 802.11ax (Wi‑Fi 6), and 802.11be (Wi‑Fi 7).
  • Experience supporting Broadcom Wi‑Fi chipsets in commercial products.
  • Solid understanding of MAC layer, PHY layer, RF architecture, antenna systems, and coexistence (Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth).
  • RF measurement experience with Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, LitePoint, and wireless protocol analyzers.
  • Ability to interpret EVM, ACLR, spectral emission masks, receiver sensitivity, PER, and throughput metrics.
  • Excellent debugging and root‑cause analysis skills on hardware, firmware, and software stacks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated customer‑facing experience.

Nice‑to‑have:

  • Familiarity with Linux kernel drivers and embedded software; scripting or automation experience (Python, shell) for wireless testing.
  • Knowledge of RF front‑end modules (FEMs), LNAs, PAs, filters, antenna tuning, and Wi‑Fi certification/regulatory processes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
