Job Title
Senior Reliability Engineer
Role Summary
Lead reliability qualification activities for new semiconductor products through New Product Introduction (NPI) into production. Work within a cross-functional engineering organisation to design, execute, analyse, and report reliability test programs that determine product lifetime, failure mechanisms, and corrective actions.
This role partners with design, test, manufacturing, failure analysis and quality teams to ensure products meet reliability and qualification commitments prior to customer release.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. The role requests a minimum of 5+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability engineering; more experienced applicants may be considered for Staff/Senior Staff titles.
Responsibilities
Accountable for planning, executing and reporting reliability qualification and supporting cross-functional resolution of reliability issues.
- Lead planning and execution of product reliability qualification programs for new products, process changes, and customer qualification requests.
- Analyse reliability data, perform failure mechanism analysis, and produce formal technical qualification reports.
- Investigate qualification failures with design, test and failure analysis teams; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform product reliability modelling, lifetime calculations, and predict field performance from stress test and reliability monitoring data.
- Collaborate on design and development of reliability test hardware (e.g., HTOL, HAST test boards) with internal teams and external vendors.
- Support manufacturing, operations and quality in evaluating issues affecting reliability and assist technical disposition of held lots.
- Maintain alignment with semiconductor reliability standards and respond to customer technical reliability inquiries.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and capabilities for successful performance in the role.
Must-have:
- Minimum 5+ years in semiconductor reliability engineering with proven experience developing and executing qualification plans and formal reporting.
- Experience performing lifetime calculations, reliability modelling, and qualification data analysis.
- Demonstrated experience supporting products through NPI and production release activities.
- Practical experience investigating failures and working with cross-functional teams (design, test, FA, manufacturing).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with semiconductor reliability standards (e.g., JESD47, JEP122, JS-001/002, AEC-Q qualifications).
- Understanding of semiconductor fabrication, assembly, test methodologies, and device physics.
- Experience with failure analysis, DOE, statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, Excel) and ESD/LU testing tools.
- Experience in related functions: Failure Analysis, Product/Test/Quality Engineering, Wafer Fabrication or Product Validation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master's degree or PhD in a related engineering field is considered beneficial.
