Job Title
Senior Real-Time System Test Infrastructure Developer
Role Summary
Senior developer responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining reusable real-time test sequences and infrastructure for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) PXI systems. The role focuses on National Instruments tools (TestStand, LabVIEW, VeriStand), restbus simulation for automotive communications, and integration/testing of AUTOSAR-based ECUs.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting identifies a senior-level role by title; no specific years-of-experience requirement was listed.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain reliable, reusable real-time test modules and support the test infrastructure team.
- Design, implement and maintain TestStand real-time sequences and reusable building blocks for KPI and functional validation tests.
- Develop and integrate restbus simulation models for CAN, LIN and Ethernet to support ECU testing.
- Implement and validate test sequences for AUTOSAR-based control units in real-time environments.
- Configure, troubleshoot and optimise PXI-based HIL systems and multifunction DAQ modules.
- Integrate FPGA-based test components and support HIL testing methodologies.
- Document technical specifications, usage guidelines and best practices for sequences and modules.
- Support and mentor junior test developers and participate in architecture and planning discussions to improve test infrastructure.
- Perform work that may include security-related tasks and contribute to compliance for security certifications.
Requirements
Required technical skills and expected engineering practices.
- Extensive hands-on experience with NI TestStand: sequence development, custom step types and result processing.
- Proficiency in NI LabVIEW and LabVIEW FPGA for real-time control and automation.
- Experience with NI VeriStand for deploying and managing real-time test environments.
- Familiarity with PXI hardware platforms: configuration, troubleshooting and DAQ integration.
- Experience with HIL testing methodologies and integration of FPGA-based test systems.
- Practical experience implementing restbus simulations for CAN, LIN and Ethernet.
- Understanding of AUTOSAR architecture and testing approaches for automotive ECUs.
- Software engineering best practices: modular design, version control (e.g., Git) and continuous integration pipelines.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills and effective communication within distributed teams.
- Previous experience in automotive or semiconductor embedded-systems testing is desirable.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related technical field. Desirable certifications include Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) and Certified TestStand Developer. (These are listed as preferred qualifications in the source.)
