NVIDIAJob Title
Senior RDMA Research Architect
Role Summary
Join a research group advancing RDMA, transport and NIC microarchitecture to improve networking for large-scale AI workloads. The role spans analysis, modeling, algorithm and transport design, and translating research findings into product proposals.
Work with architects and researchers to identify bottlenecks, validate solutions, and measure system-level impact across hardware and software stacks.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests approximately 4+ years of relevant experience and expects demonstrated independent research and systems impact.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on research, validation, and translating results into product-relevant proposals.
- Conduct research and analysis for the RDMA NIC & Transport Research group.
- Develop deep expertise in NVIDIA’s RDMA and transport architecture.
- Identify architectural gaps, opportunities, and competitive advantages.
- Form hypotheses and validate them via modeling, simulation, and experimentation.
- Translate research findings into concrete product proposals and microarchitectural recommendations.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and cross-functional teams to measure system-level value.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience to perform the role effectively.
- Minimum ~4 years of relevant industry or research experience in networking, systems, or related areas.
- Proven ability to bridge across application, transport, and microarchitectural layers and deliver verifiable system-wide improvements.
- Experience making engineering trade-offs between research objectives and time-to-market constraints.
- Practical programming and debugging experience within production-scale software environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to present technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-have:
- Deep expertise in networking domains such as RDMA transport protocols, congestion control, multipath/load-balancing, NIC microarchitecture, collective communication (NCCL), rank placement, or network topology.
- Demonstrated drive for impact and history of influential research or product contributions.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is stated as required. A PhD or equivalent engineering/research experience is listed as a preferred differentiator ("PhD or equivalent experience").
