Senior QA Automation Engineer, ASIC Simulation
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior QA Automation Engineer β ASIC Simulation
Role Summary
Join the System Ethernet QA team responsible for testing and qualifying virtual networking silicon (SimX) and related software. The role focuses on finding and resolving ASIC and software issues early in the development cycle using simulation platforms.
The engineer will work closely with R&D to own test strategy, automation, and validation across functional, performance, and security scopes.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5+ years of hands-on QA or networking experience.
Responsibilities
Work with engineering teams to design and execute tests, develop automation, and drive defects to resolution.
- Review architectural designs and requirements for new product features.
- Design, develop, and execute functional, performance, and security tests for software releases.
- Develop and maintain Python automation suites using clean OOP principles and Pytest.
- Investigate, reproduce, and track defects; validate fixes and confirm root-cause resolution.
- Use the SimX simulation platform to validate code and debug ASIC behavior before hardware availability.
- Collaborate with R&D to influence quality from design through deployment.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on QA or networking experience.
- Strong network protocol knowledge at a CCNP-equivalent level: L2 (VLAN, STP), L3 (BGP, OSPF), EVPN, VXLAN, and advanced features such as PFC, ECN, RoCE, and QoS.
- Production-quality Python engineering with strong OOP design and hands-on experience with Pytest.
- Deep Linux proficiency sufficient to analyze system internals and debug (LPIC-1/LPIC-2 level skills).
- Clear verbal and written communication; professional proficiency in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Docker and traffic generators (Ixia, TRex, Scapy).
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware).
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or B.A. (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting also references CCNP-equivalent protocol knowledge and LPIC-1/LPIC-2 level Linux proficiency as credential-level expectations; equivalent practical experience is accepted.
