QualcommJob Title
Product Test Engineer, Senior (SoC)
Role Summary
Lead probe-card hardware design activities for SoC product and test development within the QCT Product & Test Engineering (PTE) hardware team. The role owns technical execution, vendor coordination, and cross-functional project delivery from design kickoff through handoff.
Experience Level
Senior level. Posting requests approximately 5β10 years of hands-on experience in probe card design, test hardware, or related semiconductor hardware development.
Responsibilities
The engineer will drive probe card projects end-to-end and coordinate internal and external stakeholders to meet technical and schedule targets.
- Lead end-to-end probe card design: concept, schematic/layout review, validation, and bring-up support.
- Own technical execution and schedule from design kickoff through HOD and customer handoff.
- Act as primary technical interface to external probe-card vendors; drive reviews, issue resolution, and schedule alignment.
- Coordinate timelines, resource planning, and priorities with internal teams (PTE, Ops, ME, sourcing, etc.).
- Track project status, identify schedule/technical risks, and drive mitigation plans.
- Review and approve vendor deliverables, including design documents, layouts, and build-readiness checkpoints.
- Support root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions for design, fabrication, or assembly issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design flows, supplier engagement, and execution processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate effectiveness in the role.
- 5β10 years hands-on experience in probe card design, test hardware, or related semiconductor hardware development.
- Solid understanding of probe-card architectures, PCB design fundamentals, and mechanical interfaces.
- Experience with signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) considerations in high-density test hardware.
- Proven experience working closely with external vendors/suppliers on hardware design and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, dependencies, and engineering resources across multiple projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to align technical and schedule expectations across teams and suppliers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with changing priorities.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience serving as HW project lead and facilitating design/review meetings.
- Track record driving supplier improvements, cost reduction, or lead-time reduction initiatives.
- Strong documentation discipline and the ability to translate new ideas into practical solutions.
Education Requirements
Degree preferred: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. The posting also references PhD as an option. The posting includes alternate degree/experience statements: Bachelor's + 2+ years, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD. (All degree and field-of-study mentions were taken from the source.)
