Job Title

Senior Product Engineer, Mixed-Signal SoC - TeraWave

Role Summary

Lead the production release and NPI of a highly integrated mixed-signal System-on-Chip (SoC) for Blue Origin's TeraWave satellite communications program. Partner with design, validation, test, and backend operations to deliver characterization, qualification, reliability validation, and high-volume production readiness.

This role sits between product engineering, test engineering, and manufacturing and focuses on schedule, yield, cost, and product robustness for space-grade mixed-signal ASICs.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 7+ years of IC product engineering or product development experience focused on mixed-signal or digital SoCs and production release.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of SoC bring-up, qualification, and production health.

  • Own SoC product release from tape-out compliance through qualification and production ramp; ensure adherence to development processes and standards.
  • Develop and execute characterization and qualification plans for ADC/DAC, datapaths (Rx/Tx), beamforming, synchronization, and timing calibration.
  • Drive validation and test engineering for measurement campaigns, statistical analysis, ATE correlation, and production test-limit setting.
  • Define engineering validation requirements for SerDes, streaming interfaces, Ethernet, SPI/I3C, and control interfaces.
  • Lead failure analysis and coordinate corrective actions with design, OSATs, and labs across digital, mixed-signal, and power domains.
  • Develop and validate ATE test solutions, including DFT-based structural tests and functional tests for beamforming and calibration.
  • Assess and validate radiation-mitigation and reliability features in coordination with radiation-effects teams.
  • Review NPI hardware (load boards, probe cards, characterization boards) and interface with backend operations and OSATs during bring-up.
  • Optimize cost via yield improvement, test-time reduction, and ATE coverage rationalization; manage low-yield events and RMAs.
  • Define production KPIs, monitor product health, report to leadership, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items are listed afterwards.

  • 7+ years of IC product engineering or product development experience bringing mixed-signal or digital SoCs to production.
  • Proven track record owning product releases through characterization, qualification, and reliability testing on complex ASICs.
  • Hands-on mixed-signal IC test experience: ADC/DAC characterization, SerDes eye margin analysis, digital datapath functional coverage, and embedded CPU bring-up.
  • Strong knowledge of IC manufacturing, DFT methodologies (scan, BIST, JTAG), and failure analysis techniques.
  • Robust statistical analysis skills (experience with JMP, Gauge R&R, DOE, and test-limit setting).
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for test automation and data analysis.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% and to work onsite at a designated facility during NPI and production activities.
  • Preferred: experience with beamforming/phased-array architectures, high-speed multi-Gbps SerDes and streaming interfaces, OSAT/backend coordination for advanced-node ASIC ramps, space-grade radiation mitigation/testing, and mentoring early-career engineers.

Education Requirements

Minimum: BSEE or equivalent (or equivalent practical experience) is stated as the baseline in the posting. Preferred: MSEE or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of degree language.
