Role Summary

The Senior Product Engineer is the primary engineering interface for securing product requirements, validating releases, and assuring yield and quality for NPI and industrialization projects at assigned subcontractor (Subcon) manufacturing sites in China. The role acts as a technical gatekeeper and operational liaison between the Malaysia engineering hub and remote Subcon sites.

Responsibilities

Accountable for product validation, yield optimization and site compliance at Subcon facilities. Core responsibilities include:

• Report operational status, yield risks, and compliance issues to project leadership and resource management.
• Analyze low-yield lots and determine correct disposition of material.
• Drive cross-functional problem-solving (8D) and Failure Analysis loops; coordinate with Subcon engineers on root cause and corrective actions.
• Approve or reject Process Change Notices (PCNs) and material deviations to mitigate quality and IP risks.
• Conduct on-site factory floor audits and line verifications to enforce manufacturing control plans and NPI specifications.
• Execute characterization and validation plans (V&V) and author technical validation reports to support site transfers and NPI gates.
• Create standardized trip reports and dashboards to capture on-site data, yield excursions, and vendor behavior for the Malaysia hub.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, language ability, and operational attributes:

• Complete professional fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) for direct technical negotiation with Chinese engineers and management.
• Mastery of semiconductor statistical analysis (SPC, SBL, part average testing) and diagnostic tools (e.g., JMP, Galaxy) for detecting and isolating floor deviations.
• Strong understanding of logic product testing, test methodologies, package structures (Wire Bond, Clip/Flip Chip), and high-volume manufacturing yield dynamics.
• Ability to lead and coordinate Failure Analysis and reliability qualification work (HTOL/ESD) with vendors.
• Ready to travel to mainland China up to ~30% and work autonomously on remote factory floors.
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to enforce quality standards and make go/no-go decisions while maintaining vendor relationships.
• Strong ownership, initiative, and adherence to automotive/industrial qualification practices (e.g., AEC-Q100, FMEA mindset).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
