Job Title

Senior Product Engineer

Role Summary

Join Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) CSME/SMPE organization as a Senior Product Engineer responsible for driving manufacturing readiness, yield ramps, and scale for advanced cloud silicon. The role works cross-functionally with design, test, packaging, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams to deliver NPI to high-volume manufacturing for cloud infrastructure.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 8+ years in product, test, or manufacturing engineering for advanced silicon.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Align design, test, packaging, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams to meet ramp and quality targets.
  • Lead complex problem solving under ramp pressure (excursions, bottlenecks, supply constraints).
  • Influence program decisions with data-driven insights and clear trade-offs.
  • Own yield ramp from NPI to HVM: yield monitoring, DOE, excursion management, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead structured failure analysis and RMA feedback loops to improve silicon quality and manufacturability.
  • Drive test-time optimization and cost-efficiency.
  • Establish production system frameworks (capacity, cycle time, output predictability, recovery models).
  • Identify and eliminate scale-induced failure modes (test escapes, yield cliffs, supply gaps).
  • Leverage data analytics and telemetry (e.g., Advantest RTDI, test platforms) for real-time decision making.
  • Partner with OSATs, foundries, and system integrators to ensure execution readiness and capacity scaling.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 8+ years in product, test, or manufacturing engineering for advanced silicon (CPU, GPU, AI SoC).
  • Strong expertise in ATE test development, characterization, and debug.
  • Proven experience with yield analysis, DOE, and failure analysis.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing and OSAT operations.
  • Proven track record delivering NPI β†’ HVM ramps in complex silicon programs.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and required export-control citizenship/residency verification.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience scaling hyperscale/datacenter silicon programs.
  • Deep understanding of advanced packaging (2.5D/3D, chiplets) and system-level interactions.
  • Familiarity with data/AI-driven manufacturing systems (predictive yield, telemetry analytics).
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
