Senior Process Development Engineer - Wide Bandgap Technology
Role Summary
Develop and industrialize wafer fabrication processes for wide bandgap semiconductor products (SiC, GaN) at the Hamburg development fab and partner foundries. Work with production, quality, and global teams to transfer processes into reliable, scalable manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior - several years of relevant experience in semiconductor process development preferred.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on process development, optimization and transfer to production for discrete wide bandgap devices.
- Develop process modules and wafer fabrication flows for SiC MOSFETs and GaN HEMTs.
- Set up and industrialize new manufacturing processes in the Hamburg fab and at external foundries.
- Plan and execute process optimization projects and experiments.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate unit processes.
- Investigate competitor processes and relevant technologies to inform development choices.
- Establish and maintain internal and external technical contacts to support projects.
- Support knowledge transfer and documentation required for scalable manufacturing.
Requirements
Key technical skills and professional attributes required for the position.
- Several years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor process development, ideally in wide bandgap materials.
- Practical knowledge of SiC MOSFET and GaN HEMT device technologies.
- Experience implementing semiconductor manufacturing processes into an industrial environment, including transfer to production or foundries.
- Hands‑on wafer processing experience with relevant fab equipment.
- Fluent written and spoken English and German.
- Good organization and planning skills; proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel as project needs require.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Microelectronics or Semiconductor Physics. (Degree in related engineering/technical fields acceptable.)
