Job Title
Senior Principal Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design-validation and characterization test engineering for advanced RFIC products in the Defense, Aerospace & Satcom group. Work with design teams to create test solutions, characterize first silicon, and define datasheet specifications for mm-wave RFICs.
Experience Level
Senior / Professional — requires extensive experience; posting specifies at least 15 years of relevant RF test engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Provide test development, characterization and cross-functional support throughout product development and introduction.
- Design and develop test solutions for highly integrated silicon mm-wave RFICs.
- Support design engineering in evaluation, optimization and debug of first silicon.
- Characterize products to generate datasheet specifications and performance metrics.
- Develop customer-facing documentation and collateral for product operation.
- Participate in cross-functional activities: design reviews, test coverage planning, 8D investigations and customer issue resolution.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required and preferred.
-
Must-have: Minimum ~15 years' experience in RF test engineering with hands-on RFIC test and characterization experience.
-
Must-have: Deep experience with RF network analyzers, calibration methodologies and advanced RF measurements.
-
Must-have: Experience with RF measurements in the microwave/mm-wave range (posting references ~10–40 GHz and X‑band through W‑band capabilities).
-
Must-have: Strong Python skills for data processing and visualization; familiarity with numpy and matplotlib.
-
Must-have: Experience analyzing large datasets (Spotfire or similar); understanding of statistical analysis and DoE.
-
Must-have: Ability to interface to digital control (SCAN testing, STIL files, SPI).
-
Preferred: Experience developing UIs with PyQt; FPGA experience.
-
Other: Strong written and verbal communication skills; highly self-motivated and able to drive tasks to completion.
-
