Senior Principal System Technologist

Role Summary

Join Arm's Central Technology Systems team to lead systems architecture, technology research, and hands-on prototyping that influence Arm's product roadmap. Work across product groups, engineering teams, and customer/partner engagements to translate architectural ideas into deliverable IP.

Responsibilities

The role combines architecture, research, prototyping and performance analysis. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop system-level architectures for new and existing product technologies.
  • Perform high-level performance modeling and analysis of hardware features, applications, benchmarks and games.
  • Develop and maintain tools for architectural exploration and performance analysis.
  • Analyse system-level trade-offs across hardware, memory subsystems and system software.
  • Lead hands-on prototyping and experimental investigations to validate ideas.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate IP into SoCs and ensure product delivery.
  • Engage with partners and customers to shape requirements and demonstrate technical solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Deep background in computer science and systems architecture.
  • Extensive experience with SoC integration and system-level performance and behaviour analysis.
  • Ability to quantify and trade off power, performance and area to meet product requirements.
  • Knowledge of interconnect and network-on-chip principles.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++ and scripting languages for tooling and analysis.
  • Proven communication skills and experience working effectively in distributed teams.
  • Self-motivated, organized and results-focused with practical problem-solving ability.

Nice-to-have: prior work with benchmarks, applications and tooling for architectural exploration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Science (BSCS) required. Master’s (MS) or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
