Senior Principal System Architect
Role Summary
Lead the definition and exploration of next-generation system architectures for data center and networking infrastructure. Influence long-term technology direction by combining market trend analysis, hyperscaler requirements, and technical research to shape Arm's infrastructure roadmap.
Work collaboratively with product, software, silicon, and research teams to convert strategic objectives into architectural choices and technology strategies.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 10+ years of experience in SoC/system architecture, technology strategy, or advanced technology research.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
- Define next-generation system architectures informed by industry trends, hyperscaler needs, software workloads, and use cases.
- Establish top-down technology objectives to guide research into compute, memory, and interconnect technologies.
- Lead exploration of technologies such as 3D stacking, chiplets, advanced memory, packaging, and heterogeneous integration.
- Translate long-term vision into technology strategy and architectural features aligned with product goals.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment across software, silicon, and system domains to enable scalable, high-performance infrastructure solutions.
- Communicate architectural vision and data-backed strategy to senior stakeholders and technical teams.
- Maintain technology scouting and external engagement with academia, research consortia, and industry forums.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in SoC/system architecture, technology strategy, or advanced technology research.
- Deep knowledge of infrastructure system requirements: server-class power management, high-speed I/O (e.g., PCIe, SATA), system security, external system monitoring, and remote device management.
- Proven ability to define technology strategy and produce clear, complete written specifications.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) and demonstrated cross-team collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on familiarity with 3D integration, chiplet architectures, advanced memory systems, packaging innovations, and heterogeneous integration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering (as listed in the posting).
