Job Title

Senior Principal SoC Architect

Role Summary

As a Senior Principal SoC Architect in the System Technology Architecture Group at Arm, you will define and lead system-level architectures and specifications for Infrastructure markets (edge to hyperscale). You will align cross-functional hardware and software teams to deliver SoC-level solutions that meet performance, power, security, and IO requirements.

Experience Level

Senior β€” minimum 10 years industry experience in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience translating server requirements into system and SoC designs.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define system architectures and topologies for infrastructure applications from edge to hyperscale using Arm technology.
  • Lead architecture specifications covering compute, security, boot strategies, IO interfacing, and system monitoring.
  • Coordinate and align development across multiple design teams, including hardware and software.
  • Steer development of functional and performance models; review microarchitectural specifications and test plans.
  • Define performance metrics and targets (latency, bandwidth, QoS, device IO) and work with performance analysis teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to refine power expectations under realistic workloads.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure system architecture requirements, including server-class power management, security, and external system monitoring/remote device management.
  • Experience with high-speed IO interfaces such as PCIe and SATA and with memory and IO subsystems.
  • Systems-level performance modeling and analysis experience.
  • Understanding of general-purpose CPU microarchitecture (pipelines, caches, memory hierarchy).
  • Proven ability to guide cross-team development and produce clear, concise architecture specifications.
  • Experience reviewing microarchitectural specifications, test plans, and supporting firmware/middleware/OS development.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. The role expects approximately 10+ years of industry experience in Electrical/Computer Engineering and experience translating server requirements into system and SoC designs.
