Senior Principal Product Definer
Role Summary
Define high-performance analog and data-converter products for Renesas CMSD (configurable mixed-signal products). Work across system, hardware, software, sales/FAE, and customers to convert product concepts into objective specifications and datasheets that guide IC design and product development.
Based in San Jose, CA; role requires close collaboration with marketing, design, applications, and customer engineering teams to ensure product feasibility and customer acceptance.
Experience Level
Senior — role requires extensive senior-level experience in high-performance analog and mixed-signal systems.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include product definition, feasibility, and customer-facing engagement.
- Engage with customers to identify and anticipate technical needs and system requirements.
- Define product roadmaps with marketing to ensure sustainable differentiation.
- Lead feasibility studies with design teams for high-performance amplifiers, ADCs, and DAC IP.
- Convert product ideas into clear, objective specifications and preliminary/production datasheets.
- Collaborate with design, applications, marketing, sales/FAE, and customers throughout product development.
- Own and maintain objective specifications and documentation driving IC design efforts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities; followed by a few preferred items.
- Deep technical knowledge of programmable gain amplifiers, ADCs, and DACs.
- Proven experience proposing, defining, and developing semiconductor products.
- System-level understanding of semiconductor, hardware, and software interactions for mixed-signal designs.
- Hands-on lab experience using test equipment to debug and evaluate high-performance analog circuits.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage conflicts and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams to translate needs into product requirements.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with power conversion architectures and experience in consumer, industrial, computing, or automotive markets.
Education Requirements
BSEE or MSEE (or advanced degree) in Electrical Engineering or related field. The posting specifies this education plus a minimum of 15 years of experience in high-performance analog applications.
