Job Title
Senior Principal Power Architect - MCU
Role Summary
Lead definition and architecture of DC-DC power systems for integration in microcontroller (MCU) products and MCU-based systems. Work within a cross-functional product team that includes system architects, analog and digital designers, verification, DfT and physical design to deliver high-performance MCU products.
Experience Level
Senior β expects extensive experience; the role references 10+ years of product development experience.
Responsibilities
Design and validate power architectures and ensure implementation meets system requirements before and after silicon.
- Define DC-DC and switcher system architectures (buck, boost, buck-boost, capacitive converters as applicable).
- Perform system-level simulation of DC-DC and switcher architectures, including digital control and analog impairments (MATLAB, SimPlis or equivalent).
- Quantify block-level specifications and assess implementation impairments on system performance.
- Perform or oversee block-level analog design, layout oversight, review and signoff when required.
- Collaborate with analog and digital designers to drive architecture implementation and verify requirements pre- and post-tape-out.
- Work with system architects and product/marketing teams to align power solutions with product goals.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 10+ years of product development experience, including switch-mode power supply design and architecture.
- Proven expertise in DC-DC converter architectures and system-level power design for MCU products.
- Practical experience with power-system simulation tools (MATLAB, SimPlis, or equivalent).
- Hands-on analog block-level design experience and familiarity with layout review and signoff processes.
- Experience working with cross-functional design teams (analog, digital, verification, physical design).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to present technical trade-offs and drive decisions.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in electronic engineering required.
