Job Title
Senior Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead mixed-signal design and architecture for high-speed data converters (ADC/DAC) from concept through production. Serve as a technical leader setting direction for architecture, specifications, and execution across multi-site teams.
Work involves transistor-level circuit design, calibration algorithm development for digitally-assisted analog, collaboration with layout/evaluation/test teams, and mentoring other engineers. Hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Senior β leadership role. Requires extensive experience; posting specifies 20+ years of CMOS design experience.
Responsibilities
Core duties include:
- Define converter architecture and specifications for multi-GHz sample-rate, wide-bandwidth designs.
- Develop and implement calibration and digitally-assisted analog algorithms.
- Design transistor-level circuits (amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, references, LDOs, etc.).
- Collaborate across internal teams and external customers; coordinate work across multiple sites.
- Prepare design documentation, lead design reviews, and guide layout, test, and evaluation efforts.
- Mentor and develop other design engineers.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
-
Must-have: 20+ years of CMOS design experience with proven technical leadership in high-speed data converter design (pipeline ADC, SAR ADC, current-steering DAC).
- Deep understanding of time-interleaved data converters and related system issues.
- Experience designing wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage/current references, and LDOs.
- Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working in large, multi-site teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Signal processing knowledge related to calibration, MATLAB for behavioral modeling, and prior mentoring or team leadership experience.
Education Requirements
Master's degree (M.S.) or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
