Job Title

Senior Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead design and development of high-speed mixed-signal data converters within the Advanced Cores Group. Define architecture and specifications, drive execution from concept through production, and coordinate across design, layout, evaluation, and test teams.

This is a technical leadership role focused on multi-GHz sample-rate converters, calibration algorithms, and transistor-level circuit design.

Experience Level

Senior β€” expects extensive experience; posting specifies 20+ years of CMOS design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, architecture definition, and hands-on circuit and algorithm development.

  • Set direction and define specifications and architecture for high-speed data converters (multi-GHz sample rates).
  • Develop and implement calibration and digitally-assisted analog algorithms.
  • Design transistor-level circuits for converters and supporting blocks.
  • Prepare design documentation and lead technical design reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal/external customers and cross-site, cross-functional teams.
  • Guide layout, evaluation, and test engineering activities toward production release.
  • Mentor and coach other design engineers.

Requirements

Key required skills and experience. Items marked "Nice to have" are preferred but not mandatory.

  • Must-have: 20+ years of CMOS design experience.
  • Must-have: Proven technical track record in high-speed data converter design (pipeline ADC, SAR ADC, current-steering DAC).
  • Must-have: Deep understanding of time-interleaved data converters.
  • Must-have: Experience designing wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage/current references, and LDOs.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills; experience mentoring engineers.
  • Nice to have: Signal processing knowledge relevant to calibration algorithms.
  • Nice to have: Experience using MATLAB for behavioral modeling.

Education Requirements

M.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering (post indicates "M.S. or beyond in Electrical Engineering").
