Job Title

Senior Principal - IP Design

Role Summary

Lead IP and subsystem architecture and implementation across global R&D, owning roadmaps and delivering complex IPs for edge processing, automotive systems, and gateway solutions.

Collaborate with SoC, systems, and verification teams to define specifications, design RTL, and drive IP from concept through integration on market-driven schedules.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 18+ years of relevant experience in IP/subsystem architecture and implementation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, roadmap ownership, and delivery of high-quality IP/subsystem solutions.

  • Own and drive IP/subsystem portfolio roadmaps across global sites.
  • Architect and design complex IPs and subsystems for automotive, edge, and gateway systems.
  • Benchmark competitors and define differentiating, innovative features.
  • Lead IP development from specification through RTL implementation and system integration.
  • Ensure quality across the development cycle and implement process improvements toward zero defects.
  • Drive global IP design methodologies and mentor multi-site teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for the role; concise list follows.

  • 18+ years designing and architecting complex IP/subsystems with minimal supervision.
  • Expertise in RTL (Verilog/VHDL), hardware modeling in C/C++, and scripting (Perl, Tcl).
  • Experience with processor and custom DSP designs (including RISC-V and cache-based subsystems) and microcontroller architectures.
  • Knowledge of high-speed serial protocols and PHY/controller challenges (PCIe, Ethernet, MIPI CSI-2).
  • Experience with external memory interfaces (DDR4/LPDDR4, QuadSPI) and bus protocols (AHB/AMBA, AXI).
  • Understanding of IP development flow: CDC/RDC constructs, synthesis, DFT/ATPG, and collaboration on testbench and testplan development.
  • Proven leadership, strong written and verbal communication, and ability to lead multisite teams.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on pre-silicon validation using FPGA/emulation and experience with ASIL-D/fail-safe subsystems.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
