Job Title

Senior Principal FPGA Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead FPGA verification for space and high-reliability electronic systems within the Space & Mission Systems spacecraft solutions team. Work across the program lifecycle with electrical and FPGA engineers to deliver R&D, proof-of-concept, and production designs. A $30,000 sign-on bonus is offered for external hires.

Hybrid role requiring on-site presence three or more days per week in Westminster, CO.

Experience Level

Senior - requires 8+ years of related experience (see Education Requirements for equivalencies).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include verification leadership, test development, and cross-team coordination.

  • Lead verification efforts for complex FPGA SoC designs using AMD/Xilinx tools and IP.
  • Develop and execute verification plans and testbenches using OVM/UVM methodologies.
  • Verify partitioned digital systems, digital filters, image processing algorithms, and communication interfaces.
  • Support R&D, proof-of-concept, and production programs; perform requirements flow-down for system/subsystem/board needs.
  • Document verification results and present technical findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and firmware engineers during integration and test activities.
  • Travel up to approximately 10% as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, authorization, and workplace expectations.

  • 8+ years of related FPGA verification and digital systems experience.
  • Proficiency with VHDL/Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with Xilinx Vivado/Vitis and Mentor ModelSim/QuestaSim or equivalent toolchains.
  • Experience with OVM/UVM verification methodologies and testbench development.
  • Strong background in high-speed digital electronics and embedded processor systems.
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet) and signal-integrity tools (e.g., HyperLynx) is preferred.
  • Experience with signal processing/DSP techniques and cybersecurity topics is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and work on-site multiple days per week.
  • U.S. Person / U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain security clearance when needed.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field is required. A master’s degree or Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience; related technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Degrees must be from institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
