Senior Principal Engineer, SoC Design
Role Summary
Lead architecture and hands-on RTL design of advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) products for embedded applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (synthesis/STA/physical design/package/software) to deliver tape-out-ready SoCs with strong power, performance, and area (PPA) metrics.
Experience Level
Senior — 15+ years of SoC design and architecture experience, with multiple successful tape-outs.
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include:
- Define and drive SoC architecture: CPU subsystems, interconnects, memory hierarchy, and overall system partitioning.
- Perform hands-on RTL design, coding (Verilog/SystemVerilog), debugging, and participate in design reviews.
- Lead RTL verification and synthesis flows; drive timing closure and collaborate with STA teams.
- Work with synthesis, physical design, and package teams to meet PPA targets.
- Integrate and validate interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, CAN, eSPI) and Flash memory.
- Coordinate hardware/software integration and silicon bring-up activities.
- Mentor engineering teams and establish SoC design best practices.

Must-have:
- 15+ years in SoC design and architecture with multiple successful tape-outs.
- Strong experience with ARM-based microcontrollers and SoC integration.
- Proficiency in RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog), synthesis, timing closure, and related flows.
- Experience with EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence) and collaborating with synthesis/STA/physical design/package teams.
- Deep knowledge of low-power design techniques and PPA optimization.
- Experience integrating common interfaces and Flash memory.
- Experience with cryptographic accelerators or security IPs.
- Familiarity with common analog IP used in microcontroller design (ADC, DAC, PLLs, LDOs).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Advanced mentoring or team leadership experience on large SoC projects.
- Prior experience targeting embedded microcontroller product lines.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Microelectronics, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
