Role Summary

The Senior Principal Engineer, Product Marketing defines long-range technology direction and product strategy for Renesas industrial solutions with primary focus on the RZ microprocessor family (RZ/N and RZ/T).

This role translates market and customer needs into product requirements across silicon, software, safety, and ecosystem, and drives cross-functional alignment from concept through roadmap execution for industrial automation, robotics, Physical AI, and intelligent edge systems.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects extensive experience: typically 12+ years in semiconductors, embedded systems, industrial automation or related markets and 7+ years in product marketing, product definition, product management, applications engineering, or system architecture.

Responsibilities

Lead technology and product strategy for application-processor-class industrial solutions and ensure cohesive, competitive product offerings.

• Define product and long-term technology strategy by identifying emerging trends and high-growth market opportunities for RZ microprocessor products.
• Develop and execute market segmentation and go-to-market direction to prioritize solution focus areas and drive design wins.
• Translate technology direction into clear product requirements across silicon, software, safety, tools, and partner ecosystems.
• Ensure whole-product integration across hardware, software, tools, and partners to deliver differentiated solutions.
• Maintain portfolio competitiveness through benchmarking, value propositions, and roadmap prioritization.
• Engage customers, partners, and industry ecosystems to capture future needs, influence adoption, and strengthen market positioning.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, sales, and marketing to align strategy, roadmaps, and execution.

Requirements

Must-have skills, domain experience, and proven capabilities for immediate contribution.

• 12+ years of experience in semiconductors, embedded systems, industrial automation, or related markets.
• 7+ years in product marketing, product definition, product management, applications engineering, or system architecture in customer-facing technical roles.
• Deep knowledge of microprocessor and embedded system architectures, especially real-time and networked industrial control systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of industrial technologies: functional safety, product security, industrial Ethernet, motion control, robotics, sensing, and intelligent edge processing.
• Experience developing market requirements, roadmaps, business cases, and competitive analyses.
• Proven ability to influence and align global cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and business audiences.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
