Senior Principal Engineer
Role Summary
Senior logic design engineer on the Memory Controller team based in Hillsboro, OR. Lead the architecture, RTL development, integration, validation, and delivery of Memory Controller IP across product releases.
Work closely with architecture, verification, implementation, product, and customer-facing teams to drive features from concept through customer deployment and support.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8+ years of experience in RTL design, IP development, SoC integration, or related semiconductor design roles.
Responsibilities
Lead technical delivery and support for Memory Controller IP products.
- Define microarchitecture and develop production-quality RTL; balance performance, area, power, timing, and configurability tradeoffs.
- Lead design, integration, validation, and delivery of complex IP features and releases.
- Drive integration of internal and third-party IP: define interfaces, configuration, documentation, and quality closure.
- Debug complex simulation, integration, and customer-reported issues; determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with verification teams to create robust test plans and improve coverage to ensure design intent is validated.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring; promote RTL design best practices, reviews, and documentation.
- Partner with customers and field teams to support integration, resolve technical issues, and inform product improvements.
Requirements
Key must-have skills, plus preferred experience.
- Must-have: Expert-level proficiency with Verilog/SystemVerilog and strong digital design, microarchitecture, timing, and low-power design knowledge.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience delivering production-quality IP or silicon through multiple development phases.
- Must-have: Strong debugging skills across RTL simulation, verification environments, integration flows, and customer use cases.
- Must-have: Demonstrated technical leadership, ability to make engineering tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively across teams and with customers.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with memory controllers, high-performance interfaces, data center architectures, or configurable silicon IP.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required; Master's degree is preferred. (Fields of study referenced: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, related technical fields.)
